El Tri ended the immense negative streak against the current world champion and achieved a historic victory.
Mexico and Germany, two old acquaintances in confrontations of different nature, will meet again as part of the FIFA Date in October. Those led by Jaime Lozano will face the Germans again after five years Lincoln’s financial field from Philadelphia
Their encounters at World Cups are recurring and there is no doubt about it: the domain has been German since the 1978 World Cup when they shared a group and defeated the Mexicans 6-0 in the second match of the first phase.
Mexico received the World Cup in 1986, in the quarterfinals they faced Germany and managed to take the match to the penalty spot. The series was not favourable, the hosts failed and fell 4–1; the dream of playing in a semi-final died there.
France 98 hosted the third match in its history at the World Cup and in a decisive phase, the round of 16. Germany won 2–1. Mexico failed to finish off the Germans when they had the advantage in the match thanks to a goal from Luis Hernández; Jurgen Klinsmann and Oliver Bierhoff turned it around.
Before the 2017 confrontation in Russia they competed for third place in the Confederations in Germany 2005 in a great match that ended 4-3 in favor of the Germans.
The Confederations Cup semi-final last summer was the fifth match. With a 4-1 that opened just in the 6th minute and went up to the 8th, a German team full of promising young players defeated Mexico, who were surprised very early and could not compete. That is one of the actions most criticized by the current technical staff.
The most recent meeting between these two teams was on Sunday, June 17, 2018, where Mexico was finally able to bring joy to its fansboth for the more than forty thousand people who packed the Luzhniki and for the millions who trembled around the world. El Tri won by the smallest difference thanks to a goal from Hirving Lozano.
