The International Olympic Committee (IOC) criticizes attempts by individual governments to interfere in the decision-making process on the admission of Russian athletes to competitions. In this respect stated James MacLeod, director of the organization’s Department of Relations with National Olympic Committees.

“The sports community in general has shown strong support for the return of individual neutral athletes to international competitions, and this was confirmed during the International Olympic Forum in Lausanne.

In some cases, attempts by states to influence the autonomy of sport continue; Some governments insist on the complete exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions and even refuse to issue visas. The IOC strongly rejects any such government intervention and continues to monitor the situation closely,” MacLeod said.

At the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee on March 28, it was proposed to allow the Russians to maintain neutral status if their athletes do not take an active part in supporting military operations. Athletes representing law enforcement agencies and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.

On October 12, the IOC announced the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) until further notice, following the inclusion of the Olympic Councils of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in the Russian organization. The IOC also stated that it reserves the right to make a decision at the necessary time on the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Previously Tarpishchev and Isinbayeva did not come To the IOC session in Mumbai.
