The International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) due to the inclusion of representatives of new regions of Russia in the organization. This was reported by press service IOC.
It included representations of the PRC, DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
“The PRC’s decision to include four Olympic Councils in its membership is a violation of the Olympic Charter, as it violates the territorial integrity of Ukraine. OKB has been suspended until further notice. “PRC can no longer act as a NOC and receive funds from the IOC,” the statement said.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee appealed to international sports federations, recommending that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions due to the political situation. For this reason, ISU suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions. The organization was supposed to discuss the issue of accepting Russia and Belarus at the council meeting held in Lausanne on October 6-8.
Formerly International Judo Federation suspended Russian athlete.
