Washington sends Russian forward to farm club

Ivan Miroshnichenko of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Washington Capitals was sent to the Hershey Bears farm club. The NHL press service reported this on Twitter.

Riley Sutter was sent to the farm club along with Miroshnichenko. Connor McMichael and Alexey Protas went the opposite direction.

In the preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings, Miroshnichenko had two assists. The meeting ended with Washington winning 4:3.

On May 1 of this year, the 19-year-old striker officially left Avangard Omsk with one year left on his contract. Miroshnichenko said he wants to try his luck in the NHL and join Washington, which selected him 20th overall in 2022.

In the spring of 2022, Miroshnichenko underwent cancer treatment. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a malignant disease of lymphoid tissue.

In the summer of that year, the striker managed to beat cancer and was allowed to train.
