Olivier Giroud has been named in the Serie A team of the week, but as goalkeeper for his heroic performance against Genoa

The experienced striker took over the goalkeeping duties after Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off late in the match against Genoa. Giroud made a heroic save in the final minutes of the match to allow his team to keep a clean sheet and take three points in a chaotic Serie A clash last weekend. American star Christian Pulisic scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute.

The Frenchman’s performance between the three sticks earned him a place in the Serie A team of the week as goalkeeper, instead of his usual striker role.

In honor of his memorable performance in the match, AC Milan now has special Olivier Giroud goalkeeper shirts on offer. Fans can buy goalkeeper jerseys and personalize them with ‘Giroud 9’.
