Bleacher Report reporter Adam Gretz suggestedRussian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin will be able to score 50 goals in the new regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL).
“He will continue to break expectations this season, becoming the oldest player to score 50 goals in a season and breaking the record he set. Gretz said he would reach 872 career goals in a 50-goal season, leaving him just 22 goals shy of Gretzky, who has 894 goals heading into next season.
Ovechkin, who played in 74 regular season games in the NHL last season, scored 42 goals and 33 assists. However, this did not help the Capitals reach the tournament’s play-offs. The Russian player currently has 822 goals scored in his NHL career. The difference with Wayne Gretzky is 72 goals. The Canadian has 894 goals and remains first among snipers in NHL history.
In the first game of the regular season, Washington will play against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The meeting will take place on October 14. The first match will take place at 2:30 Moscow time.
Formerly American TSN journalist Mike Johnson exposed Criticism of Ovechkin.
