“Florentino was already bribing referees before Barça did. “Anyone who would dare to report him would commit suicide,” the former commissioner had said.
Real Madrid and Florentino Pérez have issued an official statement following the accusations made by José Manuel Villarejo, in which the former commissioner claimed that the white president had bribed referees.
The Spanish entity published a statement on its website on Tuesday announcing that Florentino Pérez will take legal action against Villarejo: “The president of Real Madrid CF, Florentino Pérez, has ordered the immediate presentation of the corresponding legal action against former commissioner Villarejo for the false accusations made on the Catalan radio station RAC1,” the statement said.
Villarejo accused RAC1 Florentino because he bought referees before FC Barcelona paid Enríquez Negreira when he was vice-president of the Technical Commission of Referees (CTA) and also believes that Florentino is ‘untouchable’. “Florentino Pérez was already bribing referees before Barça did. Anyone who dared to denounce Florentino would be suicidal. It is impossible to prosecute anything that affects Florentino Pérez. “He is untouchable,” Villarejo said.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas also referred to Villarrejo’s statements about Florentino: “He said two things. That Florentino has bribed referees and is untouchable. About the first: if you have something to prove it. He talks a lot. Villarejo’s tactics are unbelievable and reprehensible. The second part, about Rubalcaba telling him that Florentino is untouchable, I believe. It’s not like Villarejo says it, it’s vox populi in this country. I also say it: it is objective data. Rubalcaba was a very good friend of Florentino, everything suits me.”
