Sergei Kiryakov, former player of the German teams Hamburg and Karlsruhe, believes that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is interested in the return of Russian teams. His words are quoted TASS.
“I welcome this decision, I hope it will be possible to implement. Some countries are boycotting our admission and here UEFA needs to take a strong position on this issue because there cannot be any policy regarding children. I think this is the first step towards the return of adult teams. UEFA is interested and looking for ways to ensure that our teams play in their own tournaments and that the Russian Football Union does not consider moving to Asia,” Kiryakov said.
On September 26, the UEFA Executive Committee allowed Russian national teams consisting of players no older than 17 years of age to participate in international tournaments. They will demonstrate without flags or anthems, and the matches will be held abroad.
Following this, England, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Northern Ireland, Latvia, Poland and Ukraine announced that they were boycotting the match to be played with the Russian national teams.
The participation of the Russian national team of all ages in international matches in the spring of 2022 is suspended.
Previously Vyacheslav Koloskov appreciated The level of the next opponent of the Russian national football team.
