Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leopold spoke about the future of the team’s Russian forward Kirill Kaprizov. His words are quoted Athletic.
“I’d be lying if I said we weren’t thinking of extending the contract with him. He’s a big part of our future, but only if he stays here. I think he likes it here. Now he’s learning to speak English. Kirill is becoming more and more American,” Leopold said.
In the National Hockey League play-offs last season, Minnesota lost to the Dallas Stars in the 1/8 finals, 2:4. Kaprizov appeared in all six matches of the series and scored only one goal.
The Russian forward played in 67 games in total for Minnesota during the NHL regular season, scoring 40 goals and making 35 assists. Ovechkin became the fifth most productive Russian after Malkin, Panarin and Kucherov. Kaprizov missed nearly a month due to injury.
Previously in Minnesota said About Kaprizov’s influence on the contract extension with Mats Zuccarello.
