Russian boxer Murat Gassiev lost to Swedish Otto Wallin in the fight for the WBA Inter-Continental world title.
The fight took place in Antalya and lasted 12 rounds. Wallin won via split decision (115-113, 115-113, 111-117).
As a result of the fight, Wallin took second place in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) rankings.

At the weighing ceremony, it was revealed that Gassiev was 10 kg lighter than Wallin (107.75 kg versus 98 kg). At the same event, the Swede refused to shake Gassiev’s hand, saying “this is a night of boxing, not a friendly evening.”
Gassiev, 29, is a former World Boxing Association (WBA) and IBF champion. He has 30 wins and 2 losses, with one more fight declared void. Wallin, 32, has 26 wins and one loss.
On March 1, it became known that Gassiev was a citizen of Armenia. The boxer said he will not give up performing under the Russian flag.
