Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to Khabarovsk “Amur” Canadian hockey player Cameron Lee. The decree was published in the official gazette Web site legal process.
The document stated, “In accordance with paragraph “a” of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, I decide to grant citizenship of the Russian Federation to the following persons: Lee Cameron Carleton, born February 18, 1997.”
On July 31, Cameron Lee announced that he wants to obtain Russian citizenship in the near future. The hockey player stated that this was his personal initiative.
In the last season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Cameron Lee played 53 matches and collected 20 (7+13) points in these matches with a +1 utility indicator. The Canadian player missed the final matches of the season due to a broken collarbone. Lee has scored one goal and made five assists in nine games this season.
