Famous domestic coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev, who has worked in various clubs in the Russian Premier League and is currently president of Anzhi Makhachkala, commented to socialbites.ca about the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to allow Russian men and football players. Under-17 women’s national teams will be eligible to participate in the 2024 European Championship qualifying round tournament. The expert believes that this will greatly help young football players.
“Of course it’s a help. It is clear that without high-level competitions it is more difficult to achieve maximum results. “In order to become a qualified football player, there must be good competitions as well as training,” said Gadzhiev.
The UEFA Executive Committee has partially lifted the sanctions imposed on Russian youth teams, but at the same time they will take to the field without their national flag and anthem, and all home matches will be played only on neutral grounds. Additionally, Russian adult and youth teams will not be able to participate in international competitions until the conflict in Ukraine is over.
Earlier, President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe said that a special military operation in Ukraine opened the eyes of Russians to the attitude of Western countries towards Russia.
