Russian biathlete says returning to sports after giving birth was a mistake

Beijing Olympics relay silver medalist Kristina Reztsova has spoken out about her inability to recover from her second pregnancy. His words were quoted “Championship”.

“After Polina, it was harder to come back. Pregnancy was a little different; I finished training earlier. And I was overwhelmed by the desire to return as quickly as possible. I made a mistake when I tried to protect the girls who gave birth after me with advice – I began to put stress on myself too early, my body responded to this with injuries and diseases. Therefore, it took much longer to adapt to the training rhythm,” said Reztsova.

Last season, Reztsova won a silver medal as part of the women’s relay team at the Beijing Olympics. She also won a bronze medal in the mixed relay at the Games.

At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.

Following this, the International Biathlon Union announced its decision to admit Belarusian and Russian athletes to the World Cup and IBU stages only as neutral athletes. As a result, domestic biathletes missed the competition.
