The rematch between Jeff Monson and Oleg Taktarov, scheduled for September 29, will not take place TASS.
“There will be no fight,” Monson said.
The fight between Monson and Taktarov took place in August 2023. The match ended in a draw. For 55-year-old Taktarov, the fight against Monson at the tournament in Moscow was the first fight in more than a decade. The Russian player is known for his performances in the first tournaments of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He won one such tournament in 1995.
Monson became a Russian citizen in 2018. In 1971, America’s St. Paul and first announced his desire to change his American citizenship to Russian in 2013.
In February 2023, the 52-year-old athlete renounced his US citizenship.
Monson has performed in a variety of leagues and disciplines in the United States, including several fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Monson competed in the UFC until 2006, earning three victories in four fights.
