More than 820 people have died after the devastating earthquake that shook the North African country.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred at 11:11 PM local time on Friday evening
It is one of the strongest and most destructive earthquakes to ever hit the country, and the death toll has risen exponentially since the moment of impact.
At least 820 people have lost their lives and another 672 have been injured, of whom 205 are considered “seriously injured”, the Moroccan Interior Ministry said.
The disaster was followed by tributes and prayers around the world, with high-profile sporting names among those updating their social media pages to reference the earthquake.
Amrabat and Ziyech, two players who played an important role in Morocco’s magical run to the semi-finals of last year’s World Cup, posted stories on their Instagram accounts.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, among many other clubs in the world, have also issued statements regarding the earthquake in Morocco.
In the letter from the club Concha Espina you can read: “Real Madrid CF, its President and its Board of Directors express their deepest concern and solidarity with the victims of the earthquake that has occurred in Morocco in recent hours. Our club extends its We offer our condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire Moroccan people. Morocco was due to play the sixth match of its AFCON qualifying campaign against Liberia in Agadir on Saturday evening, although that match has now been postponed.
