Alexei Morozov, Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, said that the ministry has an understanding that domestic athletes will miss competitions in most sports at the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris. DEA News.

“We are aware that we will miss most of the events, but we are working on the remaining events and performance chances,” said Morozov.

At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.

At the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee on March 28, 2023, it was recommended to allow the Russians to remain in neutral status if the athletes were not actively engaged in supporting hostilities. Some federations offer Russians to sign a declaration of neutrality in order to participate in tournaments.

In some sports, Russians continue to participate in international tournaments as neutral athletes.
