The CONMEBOL Qualifying Event for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada awards six direct seats and one for the playoffs.
Despite Alejandro Domínguez’s attempts to change the league system, the South American Qualifiers will once again be played with the same format they have maintained for nearly three decades and the 10 selected from CONMEBOL will face each other in two rounds in search of the six and a half spots available for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The full schedule of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup
The qualifier will run for two years, between September 2023 and September 2025, and will involve the participation of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
