Love it or hate it, the Ballon d’Or is the prize every footballer in the world dreams of winning one day. And now, after a memorable and unique 2022-2023 campaign, the shortlist for the 2023 edition has been announced.
There are many big names vying for the trophy Karim Benzema took home in 2022, with achievements not only at club level, but also at the 2022 World Cup all included in this year’s roster of potential winners.
Who will take the prize this time? Will Lionel Messi collect the eighth Ballon d’Or of his career after leading Argentina to victory in Qatar? Will Erling Haaland’s performance be enough for treble-winning Manchester City? Can Kylian Mbappé or Vinicius Jr. give them strength?
