The Spanish defender will pass medical tests next Monday and will be presented as new reinforcement for Sevilla tomorrow.

It wasn’t in anyone’s plans. Or yes, from the footballer himself. Against all odds, Sergio Ramos turned down the offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad and will play for Sevilla FC to fulfill his dream of returning to Nervión, something that seemed impossible for financial reasons.

It is no longer a rumor that cannot possibly become reality: the Spanish international arrived at Seville airport this Monday on a private plane to undergo a medical examination and finally sign his new contract. He is expected to be presented on Tuesday as the new reinforcement of the Seville club.

In principle, Ramos will sign a contract with Sevilla for one season plus an optional season, for an amount of just over one million euros net for the player, according to “Estadio Deportivo”. In Arabia, Ramos had an offer to receive more than 20 million euros a year. Sevilla will come as a free agent after ending its relationship with PSG and will only have to pay the defender’s salary.

Sergio attended the displaced media in a small impromptu press conference in which he was “happy” to return home after waiting “a few months” for the agreement to succeed. “Coming here was a debt to my father, to my grandfather and to (Antonio) Puerta,” he said.
