Joaquín Rocamora’s Atticgo Club Handball Elche opens this Saturday (21.00) in the Guerreras-Iberdrola League. And he will do so in front of his audience at the Esperanza Lag pavilion and in a final against the team’s well-known rival, Costa del Sol Malaga, the current champion of the competition, in which Elche and Malaga compete for first place. He won the championship title with the victory of the opponents in the last match.

The Atticgo-Costa del Sol duel has been seen no more than three times this preseason. The women of Elche achieved two victories and admitted one defeat. The first win was in the Villa de Frigiliana Cup in Malaga (21-26). Rocamora team also defeated 22-19 in the next match played on Andalusian soil. In the end, the biggest win at the Festa d’Elx came 29-20.

Announcement

Elche club expects a good atmosphere in the match broadcast by Teledeporte and Tele Elx. For CBM Elche, the coach will need to fire five shots as his entire roster is ready. Atticgo has added Marisol Carratú and Kelly Rosa this season, as well as Noelia Solla, but will start the season at the subsidiary. On the other hand, Elena Martínez (Oviedo), Ángela Rodríguez (Icasa Handball Madrid), Pamela Rodrígues (Granollers) and Ivette Musons (retired and currently second coach of Senior B Women’s team Nuria Andreu). In Malaga, Gabriela Pessoa and Gabriela Bitolo (former CBM Elche player) were safely off the field.

“We started as champions against second place and we hope to present a good image,” said Rocamora. It’s still early and there are still people on the beach but I ask you to try to get closer to Esperanza Lag and let us be 800-1000 people and enjoy a match at the highest level. We are facing Costa del Sol, who in my opinion have the best squad in the last decade since the extinct Itxako”.

Coach considers it important that “at the 60th minute, AtticGo Elche has the capacity to compete against everyone”, as well as the opposing team’s numerous casualties in this Saturday’s match. We hope to continue to show that image, that attitude, that game that we showed during the preparation period as well. If we can achieve this, we will have a chance to win the match. So whether we win or not is secondary. Not because points don’t matter. But there are more important issues like engaging and getting fans excited and continuing to show the image we created this August.”
