Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev beat Australian Christopher O’Connell to reach the third round of the US Open.
The match, which lasted 3 hours and 4 minutes, ended with the score of 6:3, 6:1, 6:7 (6:8), 6:2.
In the next round, Medvedev will face Sebastian Baez from Argentina.
Medvedev ranks third in the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) rankings. This is the best result among the Russians. Spain’s Carlos Alcaras and Serbian Novak Djokovic are in the top two places, respectively.
Medvedev has won five ATP titles this season.
The US Open, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, will take place in New York from August 28 to September 10.
