The Barcelona footballer did not forget the controversy surrounding Rubiales and Jenni Hermoso when receiving the award.

Aitana Bonmatí was voted best player of the year for UEFA on Thursday after the draw gala for the group stage of the 2023/24 Champions League.

The FC Barcelona midfielder was named the best player in the last edition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Women’s World Cup.

At title level, he won the Spanish League, the Spanish Super Cup, the Champions League and the Women’s World Cup.

It is therefore the third year in a row that the award goes to a Spanish and Barça player.

Message to Rubiales

After receiving the award in Monaco, the Spain international sent a message to Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF suspended by FIFA, over the controversy over the kiss he gave Jenni Hermoso at the awards ceremony for La Roja at the World.

“Things have happened that I would hate to let go of. As a society, we should not allow abuse of power to take place in an employment relationship, or any other disrespect,” said Aitana.
