Denmark national team coach criticizes the organizers of the World Hockey Championship

Heinz Ehlers, head coach of the Danish national team, criticized the organizers of the 2022 Ice Hockey World Championship after losing to the Slovaks (1:7).

“The players are tired. It was a crappy program. The IIHF did a really terrible job. Slovakia had 66 hours of rest and we had 17 hours of rest. It wasn’t fair. We played against a very good team,” he said.

Recall that the current world champions in hockey are Canadians. They played their last match in the group stage against the French national team and won a convincing victory with a score of 7:1.

In March, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) decided to exclude Russian hockey players from participation in international tournaments, including neutral status, and received from Russia the right to host the home youth world championship in 2023.
