Lewandowski is becoming a problem for Barcelona

Xavi’s team felt the worrying start of the season for the Polish striker.

Robert Lewandowski’s stats in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Cádiz on Sunday weren’t terrible. Although he didn’t score, the striker shot five times, hit once and missed a big chance. He also received an assist.

Worryingly, however, Lewandowski was left ‘dry’ as Barcelona needed a goal to salvage what appeared to be on their way to their second 0-0 draw in as many games at the start of the season. He rarely entered the penalty area and squandered the few chances he had.

Pedri and Ferran Torres scored the goals. The Polish striker, a spectator. It is the continuation of a worrying trend for Lewandowski. He turned 35 on Monday and is showing signs of deteriorating with age. He has scored just 10 league goals this calendar year and is unlikely to match 2022’s 34.

Lewandowski shows a picture with and without a ball. Suddenly, one of the big names in this sport seems to be blaming his age. All this is a problem for Barca, which will drop its production significantly without the contribution of its star.

The blaugrana have no reliable goalscorer besides Lewandowski. The departure of Ousmane Dembele (and his 12 goals last year) has only added to the pressure. And while exciting but inexperienced Brazilian teenager Vitor Roque could arrive in January, Lewandowski needs to get back to his best form or Barca could end up out of title contention early.
