Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov admitted that he understands the Tennis Professionals Association (ATP) policy of sanctioning Wimbledon.
“I disagree with the decision to deprive Wimbledon of points, but I understand that since this is a professional competition, everyone should participate. I understand very well ATP’s policy on this matter and the situation they are in. Tournaments should be for the best players in the world, no matter where they come from, you know? Mostly the peaks will suffer from this – Novak, I, Hubi, Berrettini, we will lose a lot of points, ”Shapovalov said at a press conference.
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic continues to lead the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)’s updated rating. The best of Russians is still Daniil Medvedev. He is in second place, 680 points behind the leader. In third place is Alexander Zverev, the representative of Germany. Another Russian – Andrei Rublev – is in seventh place. The Serbian could lose around 2,000 points due to the ATP’s decision not to award points at the end of the tournament.
Recall that on April 20, the organizers of the tournament decided not to allow Russians and Belarusians to compete.
Earlier, when Benoit Paire talked about losing Wimbledon points, declarationPlayers pay for the Russians.
