Fans clashed at the exit of Spartak metro station before the main match between the red and white teams and Zenit in the fifth week of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The fact that people were not leaving the station lobby due to the rain caused a mass gathering of people. Police asked fans to leave the subway entrance group.
The match between the teams will start at 19:30 Moscow time. A few hours before the match, heavy rain in the capital partially flooded the buildings under the stands at the Otkritie Arena.
After 4 rounds played in the RPL, the red-whites, who collected 9 points, are in the fifth place. Petersburgers are in seventh place (seven points). Two teams are leading at once – Krasnodar and Ural (13 points each). Voronezh “Torch” closes the table (0 points).
The red-whites last defeated the Petersburgers in September 2022. Then Spartak sent two unanswered goals into the opponent’s goal.
