Tata Martino came out for the defense of the Leagues Cup despite several protests from the Mexican teams.
Gerardo Martino, former technical director of the Mexican national team and current coach of the InterMiami CF of the mls, came out in defense of the tournament League Cup 2023 for the continuous protests of the Liga MX clubs, recently from Rayados de Monterrey.
“The MLS didn’t say we’re going to have a tournament, but we’re doing it the way we want and whoever wants to come and play should do it and whoever doesn’t want to, no,” Martino said at a conference.
“In Concacaf they held a tournament, they called the MLS to Liga MX, they sat down, they saw how the tournament was going to be, how much money they were going to win, what the company was like, because we forgot everyone from the company and then the protests,” addedor the Rosario coach.
Martino said that Liga MX depended on the company to play the bi-national tournament, so any complaint should be made to Liga MX president Mikel Arriola: “If any club wants to make a claim, it’s up to the president of the FMF and not the tournament organizers. The one who accepted the terms is the president of the FMF“, said.
