One of the things that must be taken into account in decisive cases is the accumulation of cards and the associated penalties.

The teams that dream of winning the Copa Libertadores know that they must have their best players at their disposal and that requires discipline, as the accumulation of cards can lead to a team losing important pieces.

GOAL is looking at what the regulations say about this and when they are “cleaned up” for the governing bodies.

WHAT IS THE LIMITS OF REPRESENTATIONS AND WHEN THEY REMAIN WITHOUT EFFECT

According to the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2023 regulations, in Article 3.8.2 it indicates that, as in the group stage, the player who receives three consecutive or alternating yellow cards must meet a suspension date.

It’s worth clarifying that they were “cleaned up” for the teams going into the round of 16, with the exception of those who had to complete a day because they were booked in the last game of the group stage.

The calculation was restarted from the round of 16 and in this way whoever adds three yellow cards between that instance, the quarter-finals and the semi-finals will be suspended for the next match.
