Roman Kostomarov, 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing, continues to recover after undergoing surgeries to amputate his feet, one hand on one hand and several fingers on the other. Previously, there was information that was reflected in the press with the claim that the athlete was depressed due to a painful condition. On May 29, however, TASS reported, citing its source, that the famous skater did not suffer from depression but had mood swings.
“Prosthetic preparations are underway – surgeries have been done on the legs, the recovery phase continues. As for the hands, there is still a series of preparatory activities and subsequent healing.
No talking about timing the evacuation because it all takes time. His mood is normal, but of course there are differences – after all, he has been in the hospital for four months.
But there is no depression, everything is fine, ”said a TASS source.
It is worth noting that recently a lot of different information has emerged about the timing of Kostomarov’s dismissal. On May 11, MK, referring to a doctor at the Kommunarka hospital, where the skater was treated, wrote that Kostomarov was allegedly secretly discharged and transferred to a foreign clinic for further work with prosthetics.
“We don’t have it anymore, it’s abroad. Where exactly? Israel or Germany. Two options. He was quietly discharged without publicity. We were taken to the airport in a private vehicle immediately. So now Roman Kostomarov is probably undergoing rehabilitation in a private clinic, where he will continue to receive prosthetics, ”the doctor quoted MK.
However, on the same day, the newspaper Izvestia reported that the figure skater’s discharge from the hospital was not true.
The source of the publication noted that discharge was possible at the end of May, but later the information changed again: now we are talking about the fact that the skater will remain under the supervision of a doctor until the end of summer.
Kostomarov’s close friend, choreographer and producer Ilya Averbukh, said that information on the health of the Olympic champion on the Internet should not be trusted.
“As you know, Roma recently shared a post on social networks. When he has new information, he will provide it himself. I see him every 3-4 days.
Everything from Telegram channels and supposedly knowledgeable people cannot be trusted. It’s speculation and making money on the mountain.
Now the most important thing is to complete the rehabilitation. Roma is a real fighter, Oksana is with him every day (Domnina, Kostomarov’s wife and Olympic medalist in figure skating. – socialbites.ca), which is very important for her, gives her great support. He is a real hero, ”Averbukh said in an interview with TASS.
The Olympic champion, who won the title with Tatyana Navka at the Turin Games, has been in the hospital for five months. It became clear on January 10 that he was taken to the hospital. The skater entered intensive care with severe pneumonia, after which the disease had dire consequences – tissue death, sepsis and gangrene.
In early February, information appeared about the first amputation – the skater lost his foot. Then Kostomarov underwent several more surgeries to avoid death.
Currently, the champion is regaining his physical form and preparing for prosthetics.
