Florent Amodio, 2011 European champion and four-time French figure skating champion, called it unfair that most Russian athletes were unable to compete in the international arena.

“I don’t understand the situation, why some people are allowed and others are not. It’s not fair when there’s a Russian tennis player, a Russian football player. From where? I will not talk about the decisions this country has taken. Sometimes “yes” and sometimes “no” seems unfair to me.

I want all my friends to be able to compete and show their best side in figure skating. I understand this is difficult but I hope this whole situation ends soon. Sorry for all my friends, both Ukrainians and Russians, ”says Amodyo sports24.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations, advising them not to allow domestic and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.

Therefore, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions. In the 2022/23 season, they focused on local competitions (Russian Grand Prix and stages of the national championship).

Formerly Georgian Figure Skating Federation announced About the crossing of Gleb Smolkin and Diana Davis.
