Unless something prevents him from fulfilling his contract, Brazil will have to wait to hire him after the 2024 Copa América
Carlo Ancelotti remains Real Madrid manager, as GOAL confirmed last Friday. However, Brazil maintains its desire for him to become the coach in the 2026 World Cup and is not ruling out his signing for the future. It is, of course, something that, if Ancelotti honors his contract until the end of next season, It can only be considered after the 2024 Copa América.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the Brazilian Football Federation, has made it clear for months that his dream was to hire Ancelotti as a coach. The carioca president was optimistic and confident that he could convince him to accept the position now, but that is something that never existed in Ancelotti’s mind. The only option was for Real Madrid to sack him and that didn’t happen.
Carlo has been aware of Brazil’s interest these months, he is flattered, but he has always wanted to continue at Real Madrid. No appointment was ever made nor has the CBF passed on the possibility of seeing each other in this month of June to catch up. In fact, Ancelotti is leaving Spain this Wednesday.
Carlo has a contract until June 2024 and Brazil’s true intention is for the transalpine to become the coach of the Seleçao for the World Cup 2026so that they have time to make that wish come true. But of course this decision to continue at Real Madrid and no longer take charge of the five-time champion complicates things, as Brazil will have to bet on another coach and that could change the plans.
Anyway, this is not Carlo’s problem, but the CBF’s. If they really want Ancelotti for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, they will have to prove it in the future. Now they have to persevere and be patient, because Ancelotti will continue to train Real Madrid.
