Details of the incident with Colorado Avalanche club Valery Nichushkin, the Russian striker of the National Hockey League (NHL), became clear.
Formerly Seattle Police Department published Body camera footage of Officers Ryan Beecroft and Joshua Knight arriving at the Colorado players’ hotel during the Stanley Cup games against Seattle Cracken in April.
The video shows Colorado doctor Bradley Changström telling an officer in the hotel lobby that a woman was found in Valery Nichushkin’s room by team members.
The doctor also said that before the Russian left, team officials “tried to move them to different rooms”, accompanied by the team’s security chief.
The girl was extremely drunk in the hockey player’s hotel room. Changstrom decided that he was too drunk to leave the hotel alone and called 911. In the video, he claims that at least an hour and a half passed between his discovery and his search.
That evening, Nichushkin did not play the Seattle Kraken in Game 3 of the first round of the NHL playoffs. He has not appeared in the team since.
Changström stated that he has more information about Nichushkin’s health, but wants it to be kept confidential. The police report to authorities said club staff “take him away for his own health and safety”.
Nichushkin moved to the NHL in 2013. He was selected 10th overall in the draft by the Dallas Stars. The forward moved to Colorado in 2019. Last summer, he extended his contract with Avalanche for another eight years, bringing it to a total of $49 million.
