Alexei Verbov, head coach of the Kazan volleyball club “Zenith”, does not believe that any of the Russian athletes will accept the terms of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and sign documents against their country.
“We have a lot of work to do. They also cut off all the chances of my sport instantly. I don’t think any of our athletes will sign documents against their country. It’s just some kind of bullshit, an understatement story.
I understand that they (IOC) want to somehow justify themselves by saying we let you in, and then you make up your own mind, it’s your choice.
It would seem that this whole story will lead to the fact that we ourselves will refuse to talk about all these myriad circumstances that the IOC is currently putting forward, ”says the two-time Olympic medalist “Match TV”.
Recall that at the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
At a meeting of the IOC executive committee on March 28, it was recommended to allow the Russians to have a neutral status, if the athletes were not actively engaged in supporting hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces, as well as representatives of team sports, will not be allowed to compete.
Former Deputy Dmitry Svishchev declarationthat not a single Russian athlete will sign any document against his country.
