The second-round game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL) play-offs has come to an end. The game was played at the PNC Arena in Raleigh and ended with a 3-2 overtime win for the Carolinas.
New Jersey forward Dawson Mercer scores the only goal in the first period. In the first minute of the second half of the match, Carolina forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi equalized the score on the scoreboard. In the middle of the game, Timo Mayer once again put the Devils ahead. Towards the end of the second period, Carolina guard Brent Burns leveled again. The meeting went into overtime and Carolina forward Jesper Fast set the final score.
The Carolinas beat the Devils 4-1 in the series to advance to the semifinals of the Stanley Cup.
The current Stanley Cup winners, Colorado Avalanche, had previously left the tournament in the 1/8 stage and lost 4:3 to Seattle Craken in the series. In last year’s final, Colorado hockey players defeated Tampa Bay Lightning.
