Inter and Milan share a field in the Lombard capital; they will meet in the semi-finals of the 2022-23 Champions League.
The football stadium in Milan, the capital of Lombardy, is known as Giuseppe Meazza or San Siro depending on whether Inter or Milan play at home, the two teams hosting this stadium, founded in 1926 and which will host the semi-finals of the Champions League Competition 2022-23.
Why the stadium of Inter and Milan is called San Siro and Giuseppe Meazza
Officially the stadium was called Giuseppe Meazza from 1980 after the death of the player Giuseppe Meazza and after the agreement of both clubs. And that’s what the Inter supporters call it, while the Milan fans they prefer to use the name of the neighborhood in which it is located and the old name of the field, San Siro.
Meazza was one of the first Italian football legends. Two-time World Champion with Italy -1934, 1938-, born in Milan and former player of both Inter and Milan, although his stamp as ‘Nerazzurri’ was greater than as ‘Rossoneri’, at the rate of 13 seasons in black and blue and only two in red and black, hence the preference of the interistas to use Meazza and that the milanistas lean towards San Siro.
