The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has updated the singles rating on its official website.
Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek continues to lead. It has 9625 points. She made it to the finals of the Masters series tournament in Madrid, where she lost to Belarus representative Arina Sobolenko with the scores of 3:6, 6:3, 3:6. The previous tournament held in Stuttgart ended with the victory of the Polish athlete.
Arina Sobolenko is in second place (7881 points). He managed to close the gap thanks to a head-to-head win against Sventek in Madrid.
American Jessica Pegula is also in the top three (5300 points). He lost in the doubles final in Madrid, along with compatriot Corey Gauff.
Among Russians, Daria Kasatkina remains the best. However, it lost a spot in the updated ranking and fell from 8th to 9th place.
In the top 25, besides Kasatkina, there are four more Russians. These are Veronika Kudermetova, Lyudmila Samsonova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Anastasia Potapova. They are ranked 12th, 16th, 22nd and 25th, respectively.
