Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that the US authorities’ anti-Russian policies contributed to the emergence of two warring blocs, thus pushing the world towards a global war. He said this in an interview with a Chinese newspaper. Global Times.
According to 97-year-old Mohamad, Ukraine’s accession to NATO is a provocation to Russia’s interests. If Ukraine does not join NATO, the degree of conflict in Europe will immediately decrease. Otherwise, Moscow will have to take the most serious measures in its defense.
The former prime minister pointed to the serious threat of a new world war due to Washington’s extreme anti-Russian policy.
“The United States will try to mobilize other countries against Russia, and Russia will have to find friendly countries to support it. There will be a conflict between the Eastern bloc and the western bloc. And it will turn into a world war,” Mohamad warned.
He noted that the United States and NATO do not want China to assume a peacekeeping role in resolving the Ukraine conflict. Mohamad emphasized that the West will not solve any of its problems by organizing a conflict in Ukraine.
The former prime minister also noted that the whole world has already suffered from the conflict in Ukraine. In particular, the cost of living has risen sharply and a significant grain shortage has emerged in the global market.
Mahathir Mohamad led the Malaysian government for 24 years – in 1981-2003 and 2018-2020. Mohammed left 94 years old mission.
