The President of the Football Federation of Ukraine (UAF) Andriy Pavelko said that despite the performance of the Ukrainian national team in the selection of the Belarusian national team, he will not refuse to participate in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Football Championship.

“The Ukraine national team will continue their official performances in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers. “I thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for its quick response and clear explanation of the situation,” wrote Pavelko on the social network.

The Minister also noted that the Ministry will monitor the situation in the possible intersection of the football teams of Ukraine and Belarus.

In the Euro 2024 qualifiers, the teams will compete in different groups.

A few days ago, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine banned delegations of Ukrainian national teams from participating in competitions where Russian and Belarusian athletes were admitted.

At a meeting of the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on March 28, it was recommended that the Russians be allowed to have a neutral status, if the athletes are not actively engaged in supporting hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.

Former Czech President Milos Zeman commented Exclusion of Russian athletes from international competitions due to events in Ukraine.
