Siberia’s new coach is a Canadian with a Russian passport

The Continental Hockey League (KHL) Club “Siberia” announced the appointment of David Nemirovsky as the head coach of the Novosibirsk team.

During his playing career, Nemirovsky played in the KHL with Ak Bars Kazan, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, SKA St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow, Barys from Astana and played for Dinamo Minsk.

From 2018 to 2022 he was the head coach of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Under his leadership, the team reached the KHL playoffs three times.

“It is important to us that David Semenovich, who has played in the Russian championship for most of his acting career, has experience in the KHL, including head coaching. “Nemirovsky preaches an attacking style of play and that is exactly what we want to see Sibir next season,” commented Sibir general manager Kirill Fastovsky.

Born in 2001 in Toronto, Canada to a family of immigrants from the USSR, Nemirovsky received the citizenship of the Russian Federation.
