Former CSKA Brazilian football player Daniel Carvalho shared his thoughts on his former teammate Yuri Zhirkov.
Zhirkov played for the army club from 2004 to 2009.
“He’s one of the best Russian players I’ve ever been with on the field. Yuri has some kind of transcendent talent. We even joked that he looked more like a Brazilian than a Russian. His technique was top notch. Zhirkov directly stood out from the rest, ”says the Brazilian sports24.
Zhirkov, 39, has played in CSKA Moscow, Chelsea London, Anji Makhachkala, Dynamo Moscow, Zenit St. He retired last summer after playing in St. Petersburg and Khimki.
During his career, Zhirkov won the Russian title five times, six times the Cup and six times the country’s Super Cup. As part of Chelsea, he once won the English Premier League, the FA Cup and the Super Cup, and won a bronze medal at Euro 2008 with the Russian team.
