Andrew Parsons, chairman of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), spoke about the admission of Russian athletes to international tournaments.
“We can convene an extraordinary general assembly at any time.
In November last year, we decided to suspend Russian and Belarusian athletes. However, it can be changed in the new General Assembly to be held in September this year.
We need to wait and look at the next course of action to see if anything has changed at the geopolitical level,” said Parsons. Inside the Games.
Recall that in November it was learned that the membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) at the IPC was suspended.
RPC has been deprived of all the rights of an IPC member except the right to appeal this decision. However, only the general assembly can overturn this decision.
The IPC removed the RPC’s membership in the organization in August 2016, before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. RPC was conditionally reinstated in March 2019.
It was previously reported that RCC appeals to UN to prevent discrimination against Russians.
