Armenian Deputy Hovik Agazarian made a statement on his social media account after the incident with the Azerbaijani flag at the European Championship held in Yerevan.

“I apologize to the entire civilized international community for not doing everything possible as a citizen and parliamentarian to completely eradicate manifestations of savage and cannibalistic tribes from my people. I am ashamed,” wrote the deputy.

Yesterday, April 14, during an event in Yerevan, a spectator snatched the flag of the Azerbaijan national team, burned it, and then threw it out of the arena. The perpetrator was caught at the scene.

The European Weightlifting Championships for men and women will be held from 15 to 23 April.
