The Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov spoke about the possible return of Kurban Berdyev to the post of head coach of Rubin.
“I read the news that Kurban Berdyev has left Sochi. As for his possible return to Rubin, the story is good but that’s more of a question for the club. Unfortunately, I do not have such information, ”reports Leonov DEA News.
Berdyev directed Rubin twice, from 2001 to 2013 and from 2017 to 2019. Kazan led his team to the Russian Premier League (RPL) championship twice. Also, the Tatarstan club under his leadership managed to win the Russian Cup and the country’s Super Cup twice.
Today it became known that Berdyev was expelled from FC Sochi. Berdyev’s appointment as head coach of Sochi was announced at the end of December 2022. Under his leadership, the team played five matches, with two wins in the national championship.
Rubin plays in the Premier League this season. After 26 laps, Kazan is in second place, six points behind leader Baltika.
