Xeneize started the tournament in the best way by beating DIM 2-0 at La Bombonera in their Group 7 presentation and eventually won the series 5-1 against Santos in Brazil.

What was Boca’s last participation in the cup to date started with a draw in Colombia for Group 3 and ended in the semi-finals when Xeneize lost the series to Independiente del Valle 5-3.

Like against Alianza Lima in 2018, the result was a draw as a visitor. Alfaro’s team controlled the game in the first half and kept a clean sheet thanks to Andrada’s reflexes. Nández had the goal on his feet, but shot wide.

In the first Copa Libertadores of the management of Ameal-Riquelme, Boca was part of Group H and opened as a visitor, in Venezuela, against Caracas. Ramón Ábila gave Miguel Ángel Russo’s team the lead, but Robert Hernández equalized with a nice free kick. Xeneize would say goodbye in the semi-finals, when Brazil lost 3-0 to Santos.


APRIL 21, 2021 – THE STRONGEST 0-1 MOUTH

Boca won in La Paz after just seven minutes with a goal from Sebastián Villa. This game was part of Group C, in which the club Ribera was part with the Bolivians, Barcelona and Santos. Xeneize was eliminated in the round of 16 against Atlético Mineiro, a series that ended with a battle between the teams as the Argentines felt influenced by the arbitration shortlist.

Guillermo Burdisso and Jhon Vásquez gave the Colombians, who were local on the first day of the Copa Libertadores, the victory. Boca passed the stage, but fell to Corinthians in the round of 16, in Darío Benedetto’s ill-fated run and missed goals.
