Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba spoke harshly on his social networks about the decision of the organizers of Wimbledon to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in the tournament this year.

“The decision of the Wimbledon organizers to allow Russian and Belarusian players to participate is immoral. I urge the UK government to refuse to issue visas to tennis players from these countries,” Kuleba wrote.

Recall that last year the organizers of Wimbledon refused the participation of Russian and Belarusian tennis players in the competition. In addition, players from these countries are banned from playing in lawn tournaments held under the auspices of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) in England.

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) fined the LTA on December 7 for not allowing Russians and Belarusians to participate in tournaments held in the country. The fine amounting to 1 million dollars, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) had previously fined the British tennis player the same amount.

Wimbledon starts on July 3 and runs until July 16. Last year, Serbian Novak Djokovic and Kazakhstan representative Elena Rybakina became champions.

It was previously reported that Daniil Medvedev leads the ATP title race.
