Italian Deputy Prime Minister supports the return of Russian athletes to the international arena

Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini spoke about the admission of Russian athletes to international tournaments.

“As for me, I think that athletes can race without flags and symbols.

I don’t think individual athletes or individual artists should pay… By not allowing a Paralympic athlete to participate in the Olympic Games in Italy, you’re not giving a signal to Moscow,” says Salvini. RIA Novosti referring to Radio Capital.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board meeting was held on 28 March. The issue of admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions was discussed.

The organization recommended that the Russians be allowed to remain in a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the war. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.

Recall that since the spring of last year, on the recommendations of the IOC, Russian and Belarusian athletes were prevented from participating in international tournaments.

Valentina Rodionenko, former trainer of artistic gymnasts stated that gymnasts will not go to the Olympics under IOC conditions..
