Alavés has returned to the field of victory after four consecutive games without a win, removing it from the zone of direct promotion to the First Division. They did so after beating Tenerife 1–0 at Mendizorroza in a Second Division match day 33.
The winning goal came after the break through Jon Guridi, with help from Tenerife goalkeeper Juan Soriano.

Ramis’ team was spurred on by the victory in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands derby but has been unable to give it continuity, although it was another tough bone against one of the promotion favourites, Deportivo Alav.és, who now has 57 points, while the Canaries remain in the middle with 41.
