Ovechkin breaks Esposito’s season record of more than 40 goals after 30 years

Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin broke the famous hockey player Phil Esposito’s season number record with 40+ goals 30 years later.

The Russian, who scored in the 6th minute of the regular season match with the Columbus Blue Jackets, used his assistants to Tom Wilson and Dylan Stroum. So Ovechkin wrote the 820th disc and the 40th of the season during his entire career in the NHL.

Esposito has scored more than 40 goals in five seasons after 30 years, finishing sixth for Ovechkin this season.

In the current NHL season, 37-year-old Ovechkin has appeared in 66 games during the NHL regular season where he scored 40 goals and provided 29 assists.
