Promotion system to LaLiga Santander
The Second Division is, together with the First Division, one of the only two categories with professional standing in Spain, both under the protection of the National Professional Soccer League. But of course everyone wants to participate in the First Division tournament. A privilege that only 20 clubs have each season.
However, 22 teams participate in the Second Division. At the end of the season, in which each team faces the remaining 21 once at home and once as a visitor, the team that scores the most points is declared champion of the Second Division and is promoted to the First Division together with the number two.

In addition, since the 2010–11 season, the winner of a disputed promotion between the third, fourth, fifth and sixth divisions has also been promoted. The system of this promotion, known in Spain as Play-off, is direct elimination in a doubles match, opposite the third with the sixth, as well as the fourth with the fifth; the two winners play another round-trip tie, of which the third team was promoted to the First Division.

Which teams will advance to LaLiga 2023-24
After 32 days of the championship, Eibar leads the standings with 62 points and -for now- they win the first promotion. Second place is contested by Granada and Las Palmas, both with 58 units; and the Playoff would be played by Levante, Alavés and Albacete, in addition to Granada or Las Palmas.
