The encroachment of the independence of sport by domestic sports figures and Western political officials, as an element of destruction of world sport, ”says Zakharova TASS.
Viner was suspended for two years. The reason for this decision was public statements made by Wiener after the Russian gymnasts failed to win a gold medal at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Viner will not be allowed to participate in international competitions under the auspices of the FIG as coach, head of delegation or in any other role. The sanctions will come into effect the day after the suspension of Russian athletes from international tournaments is lifted.
